Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Alex Galchenyuk has signed a two-year contract with HC Spartak Moscow of Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

That team announced the transaction via a release on Thursday.

A native of Milwaukee who is of Belarussian heritage, Galchenyuk has spent the past three seasons in the KHL, including the past two with Amur Khabarovsk.

In 52 games last season, the 32-year-old scored 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists).

A left-handed shot, Galchenyuk spent part of the 2019-20 season with the Penguins, appearing in 45 games and scoring 17 points (five goals, 12 assists).

The third-overall selection of the 2012 NHL Draft, which was staged in Pittsburgh, Galchenyuk has also played for the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche.
