This year, Pittsburgh Pride returns to celebrate the LGBTQ community. The theme for the celebration, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, is “Existence is Resistance.”
The festivities were organized by a consortium of local LGBTQ organizations and designed to be inclusive and representative of the community.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Pride Festival will take over Allegheny Commons Park West on the North Side. The festival will include games, activities, art, vendors, live entertainment and more. Also, the festival will focus on joy and the creation of community through self-expression.
The festival is free. Food vendors, craft vendors and community partners will be present as well. The festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Pride March and Parade is set for Sunday. Lineup will begin at 10 a.m. on Liberty Avenue between 11th Street and 16th Street in the Strip District. Everyone is invited to march, without registration required.
Speakers for the parade will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the parade will begin its march at noon, wending its way to the festival in Allegheny Commons Park West.
Smaller community events will also be held throughout Pride Month around the region. Check out Vandergrift Pride in the Park on June 14; Pride Millvale on June 20; Pride Weekend in Greensburg from June 26-28; Forest Hills Pride on June 28; and Fox Chapel Pride in the Park on June 19.
