A man was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after being hit by a car in Indiana Borough in Indiana County.
According to borough police, a man was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk on Philadelphia Street. Police said a vehicle struck him when the driver turned left from South Fourth Street and into the 400 block of Philadelphia Street.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to Indiana Regional Medical Center from the scene. He was later transported to a trauma center, police said.
The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said. Charges are pending completion of the investigation.
Police were assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police, Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, Indiana Fire Association, Citizens’ Ambulance Service and Indiana Borough Public Works.
