Robert Young was in the area for only one year, but the 6-foot-7 basketball player made a lasting impression with Latrobe fans.

Young, who attends Adelphoi Village in Latrobe and is permitted to play sports at the nearest high school — lucky you, Latrobe — put a bow on his high school career last weekend.

Young, who also played football for the Wildcats, was named MVP for the Class 5A team at the Roundball Classic. He scored a team-high 21 points as 5A fell to a team of City League and Class A all-stars, 98-95, at North Allegheny.

Young, who played at Summit Academy before coming to Latrobe, drew college interest this season from Division II and III schools. La Roche and Saint Vincent were among his top schools at the end of the WPIAL regular season.

Young averaged 13.6 points and 10.6 rebounds in his first and only season playing at the 5A level.
