The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ season came to an end on Sunday with a 2-1 overtime loss to the Toronto Marlies in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference final at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre.

Former Penguins forward Alex Nylander scored the winning goal at 13:44 of overtime.

The Marlies won the best-of-seven series, 4-2.

Forward Aidan McDonough scored the Penguins’ only goal.

Goaltender Sergei Murashov stopped 37 of 39 shots as he finished the postseason with an 8-7 record.

Highlights:

Penguins defenseman Alex Alexyev returned to the lineup after missing four games due to an undisclosed injury, while defenseman Owen Pickering was scratched due to an undisclosed injury.

Earlier in the day, the Penguins recalled defenseman Brent Johnson from Wheeling of the ECHL and signed defenseman Quinn Beauchesne to an amateur tryout contract.

The Marlies will face either the Chicago Wolves or Colorado Eagles in the Calder Cup Final.
