A teen girl was hospitalized after being shot in Clairton.

Allegheny County Police said they were dispatched for the shooting shortly before 3 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Third Street and Waddell Avenue.

First responders located a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to her leg and a graze wound to her rib cage.

The girl was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

A preliminary investigation indicated the victim was engaged in a verbal altercation with another juvenile on the street when she was shot, police said.

No further information about possible suspects was immediately available.
