Buying a sub at Jersey Mike’s newest location in Harrison can support children’s education efforts in Tarentum.
The company is donating $1 for every special coupon redeemed through June 14 to the AIU Highlands Family Center along East Fourth Avenue. The coupon is available on Facebook.
The facility, run by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, serves about 700 families in Tarentum, Brackenridge, Harrison, Fawn and surrounding communities with education, financial and food resources.
It’s budget depends each year on funding from Allegheny County and the state. More than half of the center’s $735,000 budget comes through the county and the balance comes through the state’s Office of Child Development and Early Learning.
“We are grateful to Jersey Mike’s for investing in the families we serve and for making a meaningful impact from day one,” said Sam Kulp, AIU communications specialist.
The support will directly benefit local children and families, Kulp said.
Jersey Mike’s opened May 27 at Highlands Mall on Freeport Road, near Walmart.
Rob Jaikeshan, director of operations for Jersey Mike’s, said the AIU’s mission aligns with the company’s values of giving back.
“We believe that being a part of a community means more than serving great food,” Jaikeshan said. “It means making a positive impact in the lives of the people we serve. The AIU’s commitment to supporting students, families and educators aligns closely with our own values of giving back and making a difference.”
In March, Jersey Mike’s locations across the state raised money to help send Special Olympics athletes to the 2026 USA Games.
