The letter “Democrats party of lawlessness” (May 22, TribLive) claimed that Democrats are more radical and accepting of lawlessness and violence.
I wonder what the author considers the actions of the individuals who broke down the doors and windows of the Capitol, the same individuals who assaulted the Capitol police, built a gallows and called for hanging Vice President Mike Pence; the ICE representatives who dragged an elderly man in his shorts (mistaken identity) into ICE custody and, at night, handcuffed, removed from her home and deported an 80-plus-year-old woman whose veteran husband just died, etc.
I call those actions lawless and violent, and they weren’t done by Democrats.
I wonder if the writer is OK with using $1.8 billion of his/our tax dollars to pay off those same men and women who were found guilty in court by juries of their fellow citizens for destroying parts of the Capitol and assaulting the police officers. I call that rewarding lawlessness and violence. I may be wrong, but I think all of the individuals are in the Republican Party.
There is an old saying: “If you live in a glass house, don’t throw stones.”
