The National Road: A Talk with Brady Crytzer
Sewickley Public Library invites the community to attend The National Road: A Talk with Brady Crytzer on June 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room.
Author and historian Brady Crytzer will discuss his latest book, “The National Road: George Washington and America’s First Highway West.” The book explores the dramatic story of how the young United States, inspired by George Washington’s vision, constructed the nation’s first federal highway west — a landmark project that helped shape America’s growth, commerce and identity.
Blending political history, engineering achievements and personal stories from colonial America through the 1830s, Crytzer’s work examines how the National Road connected communities and fueled westward expansion across the frontier.
Crytzer is a historian of the American frontier and the award-winning author of “The Whiskey Rebellion” and “Guyasuta and The Fall of Indian America.” His writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the Journal of the American Revolution. He is also the host of the acclaimed podcast “Dispatches.”
This event is part of Sewickley Public Library’s America 250 program series, which explores the people, events and ideas that shaped the nation’s history. Registration is required. To register, visit sewickleylibrary.org or call the library at 412-741-6920.
