Bishop Canevin defensive standouts Minikon Johnson and Lamier Wade will be continuing their football careers together.

The duo announced Tuesday on X that they will be attending UConn.

Johnson is among the state’s top linebackers. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound senior is ranked No. 30 in Pennsylvania by 247Sports and No. 22 by On3.

Wade is ranked No. 39 by 247Sports. He plays wide receiver and outside linebacker for Bishop Canevin but was recruited as an edge rusher. As a junior, he had five catches for 93 yards.

Both are three-star recruits.

Johnson has scholarship offers from 15 schools, including Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Maryland, SMU, Wake Forest and Cincinnati, among others.

He initially committed to West Virginia last summer before decommitting in November.

Wade selected UConn over offers from Rutgers, Akron, Bowling Green and Coastal Carolina, among others.

UConn is a team in transition after coach Jim Mora left for the same position at Colorado State. Former Toledo coach Jason Candle was hired in December to lead the Huskies, who play as a Division I FBS independent. They finished 9-4 last season and lost to Army, 41-16, in the Fenway Bowl.
