The event calendar is packed in Westmoreland County this weekend, with several communities hosting outdoor activities and local entertainment. Here are five things to do in the area:

With America’s 250th birthday approaching, the Compass Inn Museum in Laughlintown will look back at regional history Saturday and Sunday during its Living History Weekend.

Visitors can see what life was like in the 1700s when Pennsylvania was a colony. The event features interactive programs with costumed interpreters, historical artifacts, hands-on activities for children and tours of the museum.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Compass Inn Museum, 1386 Route 30 East, Laughlintown. Admission is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for children, and free for age 5 and under. For more information, visit compassinn.org.

‘Fun Home’ at The Theatre Factory

The Theatre Factory will stage performances of the contemporary musical “Fun Home” this weekend. Based on the graphic memoir by Alison Bechdel, the musical explores self-discovery and family dynamics from an adult perspective.

The show premiered on Broadway in 2015, running for more than a year and winning five Tony Awards, including best musical. The story is told through vignettes and narrated by the adult Bechdel as scenes from her childhood play out onstage.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Trafford Performing Arts Center, 235 Cavitt Ave., Trafford. Tickets are $25. The show runs for about two hours. For more information, visit thetheatrefactory.org.
