Customers at the First National Bank along Tarentum Bridge Road will have to do banking at other locations.
The branch, which was first established in the 1980s, closed its doors at 4 p.m. Friday.
Branch manager Tyler Gricks said the location has “run its course” and no specific issues forced its closure.
“We have been listening to our clients,” Gricks said Friday evening. “This is something that we’ve been looking at for quite some time now. … We know that the space in here is not sufficient for client needs.”
He said the plan is to eventually build another branch in the area. The location has yet to be determined.
“First National Bank strives to be a staple in the community in New Kensington,” Grick said.
“We want to create a better more involved branch and supply to the beautification of New Kensington.”
He said the five staffers at the Tarentum Bridge Road location, including himself, are being relocated to different branches. No jobs were lost.
Gricks said customers will be contacted within the next month and their accounts will not be impacted by the closure.
Recommended locations are 2 Kensington Square in Downtown New Kensington; 1713 Union Ave. in Natrona Heights; and at 4222 Route 66 in Washington Township.
