The red-hot Pittsburgh Riveters recorded their third straight shutout Friday night at F.N.B. Stadium, rolling to a 3-0 victory over Erie Sports Center.
Sabrina Bryan, Fiona Mahan and Emily Hanrahan scored for the Riveters (5-0-1), who strengthened their hold on first place in the Great Forest Division.
The Riveters took control with a goal in the 17th minute. Lola Abraham made a diagonal pass to send Bryan in on goal, and she deked goalkeeper Morgan Sinan into submission before popping a shot into the open net.
In the second half, the Riveters scotred twice in a two-minute span. In the 57th minute, Mahan took a back pass from Anna Korney and buried a shot from the top of the box. A minute later, Abraham made a sliding pass to send Hanrahan in on goal.
Lexi Grundler made two saves for her third shutout of the season for the Riveters. Sinan made 10 saves for Erie (1-4-0).
The teams will meet again at 6 p.m. Sunday at McConnell Family Stadium in Erie.
