The FIFA World Cup is under way, and the games just keep on comin’ with the expanded field of countries this year.

So let’s keep the energy high and get a dance party going with music from all of the countries that will be playing today.

First, however, let’s take a moment to celebrate the United States’ 4-1 win over Paraguay on Friday night, kicking off their 2026 run as one of the home teams with a strong performance.

United States vs. Paraguay (4-1)

If you were waiting for “Born in the U.S.A.” by Bruce Springsteen, well, you need to read those lyrics a little more closely. And despite the fact that most everyone associates this song with Apollo Creed being literally beat to death by Ivan Drago in “Rocky IV” (sorry, spoilers for the opening of a 40-year-old movie), it’s still one of the most fun patriotic songs we’ve got.

For Paraguay, we’re going with the group Tierra Adentro and a perfectly appropriate song, “La gente pide fiesta,” or “The People Want to Party.” That’s going to be tougher to do after the 3-goal loss, but we’re confident they can keep the party going through the rest of round-robin play.

Qatar vs. Switzerland, 3 p.m.

Fahad Al Kubaisi is one of the most popular singers in the Qatar. Unfortunately, I have no idea what this song is called, because his entire YouTube page is written in Arabic. I tried running the title through Google Translate, but I’m not very confident in the results.

For Switzerland, well, let’s not sit here and pretend like it wasn’t going to involve yodeling. Here’s a tune by Melanie Oesch, the country’s “Queen of Yodeling,” called “Jodel-Time.”

Brazil vs. Morocco, 6 p.m.

Let’s take a moment to smooth things out a little bit with classic old-school Brazilian musician Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Aquarela do Brasil,” before an unexpected detour into… Moroccan trap rap?

It’s not a joke. Morocco’s ElGrandeToto, with 4 million YouTube subscribers, wouldn’t sound out of place alongside a playlist of typical modern American hip-hop. It’s easy to imagine someone like Drake or Paul Wall doing a guest spot over “LFOLF.”

Haiti vs. Scotland, 9 p.m.

The Saturday evening match will be Haiti vs. Scotland. Haitian pop singer Zafem’s “Coming Soon” sounds as though it could be played as bumper music leading to a World Cup commercial.

Finally, let’s bounce a little with Scottish pop singer Paolo Nutini’s infectious “10/10.” Enjoy the games!
