Tyler Gratz, a fifth-grade student in the North Hills School District and resident of Ross Township, won four district titles June 6-7 at the American Taekwondo Association’s Northeast District Championships in Lancaster.
Gratz, 11, is a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo with five career district titles. He earned his 2026 district titles in traditional forms, creative forms, creative weapons and extreme forms in the 9-10-year-old, second-third degree black belt division. His previous district title came in creative weapons in 2024.
Gratz began training at age 5, starting in October 2020 during the pandemic, under senior master Matt Wilson at North Hills ATA. Since then, he has competed in more than 30 tournaments, collected over 150 awards and earned four state titles. In the 2025-26 season alone, he won 58 medals.
Gratz has qualified for the ATA World Championship and Tournament of Champions in Phoenix in July, where he will compete for a world title.
