Ryder Fetterolf, a native of Sewickley, was named the Canadian Hockey League’s (CHL) Goaltender of the Year on Monday.

The CHL is the governing body that oversees the three major junior leagues in that country.

In net for the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Fetterolf appeared in 41 games during the regular season and posted a 29-9-3 record, a 2.07 goals-against average, a .923 save percentage and a franchise-record six shutouts.

Fetterolf, 18, previously claimed the OHL’s Jim Rutherford Trophy as the top goaltender in that league. That trophy is named after the former Penguins goaltender and general manager.

The left-catching Fetterolf is a candidate to be selected in the upcoming NHL Draft. In April, the NHL’s Central Scouting registry ranked him 11th in their listings of North American goaltenders.

A product of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite youth program, Fetterolf (6-feet, 186 pounds) is committed to Penn State for the 2026-27 season.
