State hunting licenses to go on sale next week
Pennsylvania hunting and trapping licenses for the 2026-27 season go on sale Monday.
Sales will open at 8 a.m., the state Game Commission said in a statement. Old licenses will expire and new ones will be valid starting July 1.
A general hunting license costs about $21 for resident adults and about $102 for nonresident adults. They can be purchased in person at one of more than 500 commercial issuing agents statewide or online at huntfish.pa.gov.
The first round of antlerless deer license sales, for Pennsylvania residents only, also will begin at 8 a.m. Monday. License sales will open again at 8 a.m. July 13, Aug. 10 and 24 for residents nonresidents.
1 injured in shooting in Homewood South
A man is in critical but stable condition after being shot Monday afternoon in Pittsburgh’s Homewood South neighborhood.
Pittsburgh police, EMS and firefighters were dispatched around 4:15 p.m. to the 7300 block of Frankstown Avenue for reports of an altercation and shooting between two men. One man was found with gunshot wounds in his shoulder and chest. He was taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition.
No arrests were made Monday. Detectives are investigating.
Frankstown Avenue was temporarily closed Monday between its intersections with Collier and Sterrett streets while detectives were investigating. It has since reopened to traffic.
Pittsburgh airport recognized by French organization
Pittsburgh International Airport was named on the 2026 World’s Most Beautiful Airports list, created by France-based organization Prix Versailles.
The Pittsburgh airport was recognized for its “vast undulating roofline evocative of the nearby Allegheny Mountains,” glass walls, natural light, and a design that “celebrates the natural landscape.”
Other airports on the list include Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China, Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi and Navi Mumbai international airports in India, Techo International Airport in Cambodia and San Diego International Airport.
