Contract extended

Aleppo officials recently extended a contract with the Ohio Township Police Department.

The extension is about $65,000 and covers the rest of the year. The existing five-year contract was set to expire on June 30. Annual payments were about $130,000.

Services include one patrol per shift, three in 24 hours, plus police response to all calls.

Township manager Gwen Patterson said they are negotiating with Ohio Township for another long-term contract.

Author appearance

Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray are coming back to Sewickley on June 27 at Sewickley United Methodist Church for an exciting evening celebrating their latest collaboration, “A Pair of Aces” — and this time, they’re bringing the 1930s with them.

“A Pair of Aces” is a gripping novel about two trailblazing women on opposite sides of the law — a prosecutor and a madam — who team up to bring down notorious Mob boss Lucky Luciano in 1930s New York, from the New York Times bestselling authors of the million-copy bestseller The Personal Librarian.

This marks the second time Penguin Bookshop has had the pleasure of hosting this dynamic duo in person, and if the previous event is any indication, it’s going to be a fantastic night.

Tickets are available at penguinbookshop.com and include a copy of the book. A book signing will take place after the event. For more information, contact Susan Hans O’Connor at 412-741-3838.
