As Pittsburgh celebrates Juneteenth Friday with events around the city, travelers can take advantage of a free transit option to navigate the crowds.
POGOH, the city’s bikeshare system, is teaming up with Allegheny Health Network to offer free 30-minute e-assist bike rides and 2-hour pedal bike rides.
E-assist bikes typically cost 32 cents per minute, and pedal bikes cost 19 cents per minute.
POGOH operates 600 bikes at 60 stations around Pittsburgh.
“Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom. With a bike ride together, we can amplify the sense of community that Pittsburgh is so well known for,” POGOH Executive Director David White said in a release.
“We’re grateful to Allegheny Health Network for helping us offer free rides throughout the day, and we hope people use the opportunity to visit a neighborhood they’ve never explored, connect with community events, or simply enjoy the city from a different perspective.”
Those interested can redeem their rides on POGOH’s PBSC app – formerly known as CycleFinder – using the promo code JUNE19.
