Because of the incredible pressure groups like March on Harrisburg have mounted through ongoing negotiations with legislators and their recent action in the Capitol, the Foreign Influenced Corporation Bill has passed through the full House. This is huge: It stops 98% of Fortune 500 companies from spending in Pennsylvania elections.

Imagine: Comcast, Exxon, Uber, GEO Group … all these multinational companies would be banned from political spending. These foreign-influenced companies spend in Pennsylvania elections to prevent us from having livable wages, to let them avoid paying taxes, to threaten our healthcare and Social Security and more. This bill is close to home for all of us struggling to make ends meet right now. There will be more discussion about how to get this bill all the way through Pennsylvania’s General Assembly.

I learned less than a year ago about March on Harrisburg, which does tireless work on the ground to bring this kind of legislation to fruition. Pennsylvania citizens can help them as they are helping us, by learning what they do and making phone calls in support of their efforts. You don’t have to march or get arrested with them, but you can surely thank them for these amazing strides to get money out of politics in Pennsylvania.
