The Pittsburgh Riveters claimed the Great Forest Division championship for a second straight season Sunday night after a 3-1 win over the Cleveland Force at F.N.B. Stadium.
Goals from Ellen Molloy, Piper Coffield and Alexis Tylenda helped the Riveters improve to 7-0-1. They earned a berth into the USL W League playoffs, set to begin July 3.
Lauryn Contini scored for the Force (3-5-0) to snap the Riveters’ streak of 503 minutes of not allowing a goal.
Molloy was named the player of the match after she scored in the second minute of play, the fastest goal in club history in 62 seconds. She had five shots on goal.
Coffield, a Mars grad, scored in the 25th minute. Tylenda, a Shaler native, added her third goal of the season in the 58th minute.
Emme Butera and Chloe Hughes had assists for the Riveters. Bailey Herfurth made four saves in goal.
The Riveters will be back in action at 7 p.m. Wednesday at FC Buffalo (3-4-1).
