Woman shot
A woman was hospitalized early Monday after she was shot in the arm outside a Homewood nightclub.
The woman, who police did not name, was standing in a parking lot across the street from a club in the 7100 block of Frankstown Avenue when 14 shots were fired around 1:35 a.m., police said.
Officers were dispatched to North Lang Avenue, where they found the woman at a Sunoco gas station, police said.
First responders transported her to an area hospital in stable condition.
Police said there are no suspects and no arrests have been made.
The 7100 block of Fransktown Avenue, which sits about half a mile from the city’s Larimer neighborhood, is home to at least two bars, a Baptist church and Homewood House, a 100-unit apartment building.
Ambulance involved in a crash
An ambulance carrying a patient in critical condition crashed Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh, closing down a busy intersection near the city’s border with Dormont.
A Medical Rescue Team South Authority ambulance T-boned a vehicle at the intersection of Banksville Road and McMonagle Avenue in the city’s Banksville neighborhood, public safety officials told TribLive news partner WTAE.
Banksville Plaza, a strip mall anchored by a Kuhn’s Market, stands nearby.
Following the crash around 3 p.m., first responders took a woman whose vehicle was hit by the ambulance to an area hospital in stable condition, WTAE reported.
MRTSA sent a second ambulance to take the critical patient to the hospital.
MRTSA serves six Pittsburgh-area communities: Baldwin Township, Castle Shannon, Dormont, Green Tree, Whitehall and Mt. Lebanon, according to its website. The 911-only operator, which was founded in 1976, handles approximately 10,000 calls for service every year.
Administrators at MRTSA did not respond to a phone call or email Monday seeking comment.
Police search for suspect
Police advised Butler County residents “to remain alert” early Monday after launching a search for a suspect, wanted on an active warrant, who fled police in Cranberry.
Cranberry police and multiple police agencies joined the Pennsylvania State Police early Monday in searching for the individual, who authorities did not name. Police also did not specify the suspect’s gender.
The suspect fled by car to Cranberry after what police called an incident in New Brighton, Beaver County on Sunday night, Cranberry police said on social media.
When Cranberry police pulled over the individual’s car, he ran, police said. Offices believe the individual fled from the area.
Police told residents to call 911 to report any suspicious activity, unusual behavior or information that may assist authorities.
