The Leechburg Area School Board is taking applications for an open seat.
The board approved the resignation of Rebecca Blas during its June voting meeting. Blas was elected in November to fill a two-year seat on the board. A reason for her resignation was not given.
The board heard from two applicants, Ashley Bauer and Matthew Tardivo, during the June 16 meeting. Both are parents of children attending Leechburg Area. No decision was made during the meeting, as the board tabled any appointment.
Board president Danielle Reinke said there is a 30-day period for members to hear from interested applicants.
Applications for the remainder of the term, which runs through December 2027, are being accepted until July 20, according to a social media post from the district. Interested candidates are asked to submit a resume and letter of interest. Adult residents of Leechburg, West Leechburg and Gilpin are eligible to apply.
