A Penn Hills man is facing multiple charges after, police say, he attacked another man with a “mini bat” in Oakmont.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, police were called to Fifth Street in Oakmont around 7:20 p.m. June 16 after receiving reports of two men involved in a physical altercation following a road rage incident.
The caller told police a man was hitting another to the ground with “some sort of mini bat,” the complaint said.
Police identified the man who allegedly wielded the bat as 32-year-old Joshua Defazio, according to the complaint. Defazio fled the scene in his car, police said.
The man who was hit with the bat had injuries to his face, forearm, hand and knee, police said.
The man told police when he and Defazio got out of their cars, Defazio yelled at him, ran toward him and struck him in the face with a bat, the complaint said.
The man went to a nearby hospital due to severe swelling and bruising around his eye, police said.
Defazio is facing a felony aggravated assault charge, a misdemeanor simple assault charge and summary charges for harrassment and disorderly conduct. He is being held in Allegheny County Jail.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 8 in District Judge Michael Doyle’s Plum courtroom.
