Verona police arrested an Oakmont man Monday who they say assaulted another man in a bar Saturday night.

Michael Powell, 39, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, harrassment and disorderly conduct, court records show.

Police were called to the Hula Bar in Verona shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, according to a statement issued by police Verona police Monday morning. First responders found a 27-year-old man with lacerations to his face and neck, according to police. The injuries apparently were suffered during a fight in the bar.

Verona police Chief Thomas Dessell described the injuries as severe enough to be potentially life-threatening.

Powell is being held in the Allegheny County Jail. As of Monday afternoon, a preliminary hearing had not yet been scheduled, according to court records.
