The Florida Panthers drastically increased the physicality level of their organization Wednesday.

On Day 1 of NHL free agency, the Panthers signed former Penguins forward Boko Imama, a bruising 29-year-old who spent the last two seasons in Pittsburgh’s system.

His two-way deal is for one year and $850,000.

Imama, a native of Montreal, has appeared in 33 total NHL games, including 18 with the Penguins, all of which came in the year 2025 (comprising part of the 2024-25 and 2025-26 NHL seasons).

At the American Hockey League level, Imama suited up for 90 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins over the past two seasons.

In 2025-26, he played in 66 AHL contests, recording six goals with five assists.

Imama scored a lone goal over his 18 NHL appearances with the Penguins on March 21, 2025.

Originally a sixth-round pick (No. 180 overall) in 2015 by the Tampa Bay Lightning, Imama played in a handful of games for the Arizona Coyotes and Ottawa Senators before arriving in Pittsburgh as a free agent July 1, 2024.
