Jeannette police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run that left a 3-year-old boy injured.

The incident happened late Tuesday, around 11:45 p.m., in the 800 block of Gaskill Avenue, said police Chief Derek Manley.

Officers have been canvassing the area, checking with potential witnesses and looking for neighborhood security cameras that may have captured what happened, he said. Anyone with information or evidence related to the incident is asked to contact police at 724-527-4013.

The boy’s mother, Marissa McGowan, addressed city council Thursday and asked for urgency and transparency with the investigation. She reported the car involved was gray, possibly a newer model Hyundai or Kia.

The car continued on Gaskill afterwards, she told council. The boy sustained a sprained neck and ankle and has a concussion and contusion on his forehead.

“We’re doing everything we can,” Manley told McGowan during the meeting.
