Bryan James Athey, 49, of Hempfield Township, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at his residence. He was born July 16, 1975, in Woodbury, NJ, a son of Judith Anne Shiflet Athey of Hempfield Township, and the late Michael J. Athey. Bryan was a veteran with the U.S. Navy and served during the Afghanistan War. He was an avid bicyclist that also enjoyed hiking and nature. He explored trails all over Western Pennsylvania. Over the years, he and his mother rode all 150 miles of the GAP Trail together. In addition to his mother, Bryan is survived by a brother, Michael J. Athey, Jr. and wife, Erin, of Dormont; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Bryan's family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 North 2nd St., Jeannette. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift in his name to the GAP Trail.
