We are saddened to share the passing of our loving family man, Edward Patrick Brady. Edward is survived by his parents, Eugene Brady (Sheila Brady) and Margaret Hart; his loving wife of 34 years, Maria Brady (Bernardo); daughters Rachael Denis (John Denis), and Kailey Brady-Jenkins (Joshua Jenkins); grandson William Denis; siblings, Rebecca Brady, Nicholas Brady, Patrick Brady (Carly Brady), and Kelly Brady; and niece, Sophia Brady; along with his sister and brother in-law, Lisa Bernardo and Richard Packer; and his best companion, Buddy Bear the Havanese. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Brady; and in-laws, Anthony Bernardo and Dorothy Bernardo. Ed was private about his 14 month diagnosis with colon cancer that he never allowed to define him. His empowered spirit, deep love for his family, and zest for life contributed to his ability to surpass the odds. Ed graduated from Serra Catholic High School in 1983, where he met in homeroom, the love of his life, Maria. Attending Penn State University, he graduated with a BS in Biology, then earned his MS in Environmental Science from Duquesne University. As an incredible artist his work was published in books, science journals, and earned local awards. This artistic passion led him to start Cia's Jewelry in 2007, where he designed fine jewelry. Hundreds of clients treasure their beautiful jewelry and engaging stories with Ed. The crowning jewel in Ed's life was his grandson, William. Pap Pap and William shared a special bond playing, watching the Pirates, and enjoying GiGi's good cooking. William loved creating race tracks with his Pap Pap and working with him at the jewelry store. Ed loved the outdoors, fishing, traveling, and was a certified scuba diver. His legacy lives on in the lives of everyone he knew, recounting stories of Ed making them laugh, or offering heartfelt advice. To know Ed, was to love Ed. His amazing personality was larger than life, and effortlessly made him the center of attention and the best story teller. He will fondly be remembered for his deep, genuine love of his wife, family, and friends. His handsome smile, beautiful blue eyes, humor, and witty charm, always lit up a room. With his strong faith and life-well lived, we know he is reunited in heaven with God and his family.
