Joseph M. Fosnaught Sr., 94, of Bairdford, West Deer Township, passed away at his residence, Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. Joseph was born on Aug. 7, 1929, in Butler, son of the late Joseph A. and Alberta (Thompson) Fosnaught and moved to Bairdford, in 1959. He was a United States Army veteran. Joseph started working at a young age as a miner in the Harwick mine and was a member of UMWA. He then worked for the former J&L Steel Company, Engel Company and Union Carbide for 23 years. In his latter years he drove a school bus for Fox Chapel School District. Joseph enjoyed playing his guitar. He is survived by his children, Donna (Edward) Thornton of Cheswick, Diane (Kevin) Wendell of West Deer Township and Gary (Marybeth) Fosnaught of West Deer Township; sisters, Darlene (Jim) Mariani, Leona Hazlett and Sandy (Ed) Deary; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bertha S. Fosnaught in 2018; children, George M. Fosnaught, Debra M. Solano and Joseph M. Fosnaught Jr; granddaughter, Denise Wood; and great-granddaughter, Rachel Michelle Wood.
