One person was killed and another injured in a shooting early Friday morning in Pittsburgh’s Duquesne Heights neighborhood, according to public safety officials.

First responders were dispatched to the 200 block of Plymouth Street just before 4 a.m. after a resident called reported a man she didn’t know had knocked on the door asking for police and EMS assistance.

When responders arrived at the home, they found a man with gunshot wounds to the stomach and arm. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Officers searching the area found a crime scene in the 1400 block of Virginia Avenue at a house that showed obvious signs of forced entry, officials said. They found an unresponsive man in the house. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The Mobile Crime Unit was called to process evidence, including recovered shell casings.

The investigation is ongoing.
