The celebration includes a variety of events, starting with the docking of a decommissioned World War II Navy ship on the North Shore Wednesday night, allowing people to explore. Thursday will see the start of the annual Kickoff and Rib Festival outside Acrisure Stadium, followed by the University of Pittsburgh football team kicking off their season on Saturday. On Sunday, Green Day will perform at PNC Park. The festivities will also feature the Pittsburgh Soul Food Festival and the Labor Day parade.
