In the news this week 26 years ago: • Sewickley native Hilary Edson was set to appear in “Nurses on the Line: The Crash of Flight 7,” a forthcoming CBS Movie of the Week, playing the daughter of actress Lindsay Wagner. Edson, a Sewickley Academy alumna, previously appeared in regular roles on the soap operas “General Hospital” and “Guiding Light.” She had most recently appeared alongside Sean Connery and Lorraine Bracco in the 1992 film “Medicine Man.” In 2018, Edson appeared in the TV series “Titans.” • A play written by former Sewickley resident Marjorie Stewart, “I Drive Killer 65,” was to be presented this weekend as part of City Theatre’s Pittsburgh New Works Festival, a showcase competition for aspiring playwrights. Stewart’s plays had been selected for performance during the festival’s previous two iterations. • Forma, a “personal training and corporate wellness service provider,” offered a ‘Work Out So You Can Pig Out’ fitness class at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. “Fitness enthusiasts everywhere would love to exercise to justify eating a calorie laden dinner,” Herald reporters wrote. “Forma will be filling that need by conducting a 90-minute workout consisting of 60 minutes of high energy aerobics and 30 minutes of muscle toning exercises,” according to Debra Logan, Forma’s vice president. A portion of the class’s $8 registration fee would be donated to Light of Life Mission on Pittsburgh’s North Side to provide a Thanksgiving meal to those less fortunate. • Sewickley Heights resident Carol Semple Thompson was nominated to the US Golf Association’s 16-member executive committee, making her only the second woman to serve in the group which formulates and administers policies for worldwide golf competitions. Semple Thompson, an accomplished golfer herself, was a previous winner of both the U.S. and British Women’s Amateur Championships.
