One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime. A group of men from the Greater Pittsburgh area is joining together to show their support to those facing a breast cancer diagnosis by serving as ambassadors for the ninth annual Men Wear Pink campaign, happening now through October.
Men Wear Pink is a distinguished group of community leaders who are determined to raise awareness of and money to support the American Cancer Society mission to save more lives than ever from breast cancer.
Cancer impacts each of us in one way or another. Men Wear Pink ambassadors each have their personal reasons for joining the campaign, and they are determined to help the American Cancer Society end breast cancer as we know it, for everyone. This year's class of ambassadors for the Greater Pittsburgh campaign includes:
- Baldwin Police Department (Baldwin) – The entire Baldwin Police Department is supporting the Men Wear Pink campaign this year in order to support those in the community – as well as those in their lives – who have been impacted by breast cancer.
- Pete Baird (Greenfield/Squirrel Hill) – Pete, who works for Hoffman Martaugh, said, "I became a Men Wear Pink ambassador to support my wife, who is a breast cancer survivor."
- Dr. Josh Evans (Bethel Park) – Josh, a chiropractor at Advanced Chiropractic in the South Hills, noted, "I became a Men Wear Pink ambassador because I want my children to grow up in a world where early detection is routine, treatments are effective, and survival rates soar. The fight is important to me because my family and all families affected by breast cancer deserve a fighting chance."
