I.C. Light drinkers may be met with a familiar face the next time they crack a cold one after Pittsburgh Brewing Co. unveiled a new can.
The limited edition I.C. Light cans depict David Bednar, Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher and two-time MLB All-Star, winding up for a throw. The Mars Borough native can be found on 12-ounce commemorative cans just in time for baseball season.
Bednar is the first active professional athlete featured by Pittsburgh Brewing on an I.C. Light can.
But it’s not the first time he’s partnered with the company — he appeared on Pittsburgh Brewing billboards and promotional schedules last year.
According to a statement by Pittsburgh Brewing , the company’s relationship with Pittsburgh’s very own “Renegade” began when he was selected as an MLB All-Star in 2022 and was gifted a case of I.C. Light rather than the traditional bottle of champagne by Pirates manager Derek Shelton.
“Being from Pittsburgh, it’s so awesome to partner with a local company like Pittsburgh Brewing Co.,” Bednar said. “This is even more special given how much Iron City means to our community and all the good it does for it. At the end of the day, everything tastes better in Black and Gold.”
Bednar joins a list of Pittsburgh sports legends like Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, Jerome Bettis and Dan Marino featured on an I.C. Light can.
Pittsburgh Brewing Co.’s brewery is located in Creighton, East Deer.
