A Fayette County man charged with homicide last year was arrested Friday and accused of paying a teenager cash and marijuana to carry out the crime, according to court records.

Calvin J. Huffman, 37, of Uniontown City was arrested in June 2023 and accused of assisting a teenage boy in the murder of Anthony D. Jones, state police said in a criminal complaint.

Huffman was charged Friday with criminal solicitation, intent to promote criminal activity, possession of drugs with intent to deliver, corruption of a minor and concealment of a criminal actor.

State troopers and Uniontown City police officers found Jones in June 2023 lying at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Connellsville Street in Uniontown with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died in a hospital.

Troopers found the teenager had driven a car registered to Huffman, who was arrested later that day. Huffman told police he had only met the teenager once a few weeks prior while they were installing a pool.

Huffman told police Jones had made threats to the teenager and his family, the complaint said.

Huffman was arraigned by District Judge Jennifer Jeffries and charged with criminal homicide and other related charges, the complaint said. A preliminary hearing was held in October.

In March, an anonymous caller gave state police information about the homicide, according to the arrest papers filed against Huffman on Friday.

According to police, the caller told troopers Huffman paid the teenager $5,000 and three large bags of marijuana to kill Jones. They said Huffman and Jones had been involved in an ongoing dispute surrounding a large amount of drugs.

The caller also provided digital photos of the teenager “standing upright holding up a stack of cash with his left hand while holding several bags of marijuana, additional (bands) of cash and a glass bottle of alcohol with his right arm,” the complaint said. A black pistol grip shotgun sat in front of his legs.

Between May and June, troopers interviewed Huffman several times. They say Huffman told them he paid multiple people money or narcotics to conceal the teenager from police and took him to several locations.

Huffman is being held in Fayette County Prison without bail.

He was arraigned Friday on the new charges before District Judge Jason Cox. A preliminary hearing is scheduled July 24 before District Judge Michael Defino Jr.
