Some comedians are like a glass of wine and seduce with their well-crafted jokes; some comedians are like a single malt scotch that you have to acquire a taste for. Comedian Bruce Bruce is like grain alcohol: He just knocks you out. The comedy cyclone from Atlanta comes to Pittsburgh for a weekend of shows. Bruce Bruce is fresh off of his appearance in Chris Rock’s movie “Top Fiveâ€? and is ready get back to what he loves, pure stand-up comedy. “I was always naturally funny since I was a kid,â€? he says. Bruce has done pretty well since first stepping onstage in Atlanta, going on to host BET’s “Comic View,â€? getting a Comedy Central Presents and appearing all over the small and big screen alike. Bruce’s fans pay him the ultimate compliment by coming to his shows, time and time again, and Bruce never wants to discount that fact. He works hard to customize each show. “I go to the mall and people-watch. I learn about the suburbs and the hoods, the good neighborhoods and the bad neighborhoods,â€? he says. “The audiences love that I know their town like they know their town. “I enjoy what I do. I enjoy performing stand-up, and that audience comes out to see me.â€? A Baltimore Ravens fan, Bruce loves to razz his Pittsburgh fans in a good-hearted way. “I’m kind of like a Sour Patch Kid. A little sour and a whole lot of sweet.â€? In the long term, he’d like to get his own show. “I have an idea where I’m retired and run a club. Kind of like a modern-day ‘Cheers,’â€? he says. “Also, I am working on my next DVD.â€? Matt Wohlfarth is a contributing writer for Trib Total Media.
