Ernest Jack DeMonte, Jr., 77, of New Stanton, PA, was unexpectedly born into eternal life on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. Jack was born on Feb. 27, 1947, in Bovard, son of the late Ernest Jack DeMonte, Sr. and Angeline 'Angie' Delle Donna DeMonte. He was a 1965 graduate of Hempfield Area Senior High School and a 1967 graduate of Duff's Business Institute in Pittsburgh. Jack was a lifelong hard worker. He began his first job at age 14 in the produce department of Gee Bee's grocery store in Greensburg. Soon after, he decided to become an insurance sales agent after a traveling insurance agent visited the family home in Bovard. Jack began his career as an insurance sales agent at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and then retired from Allstate Insurance Company. He was a full-time licensed insurance sales agent at his personally established agency in Youngwood for well over 20 years. He and his wife, Jane, with whom he worked, were accomplished agents and enjoyed traveling the world on several awarded business trips as a result of their successful performance. Jack simultaneously owned and operated Stadium Sports Cards, LLC., a Youngwood business specializing in sports trading cards and comic books. He also traveled on weekends as a vendor to various card shows. His special interests included collecting memorabilia and flowers. Jack was an enthusiastic gardener, especially growing summertime vegetables and dozens of Dahlias, flowers which won awards at the Westmoreland County Fair. He was passionate for his love of family and holiday celebrations, particularly Christmas and the family's annual Italian Christmas Eve traditions. He was proud of his Italian heritage, loved the family Schnauzers, and enjoyed watching TV, especially the Pittsburgh sports teams. Jack's love of baseball began in childhood as a fan of the New York Yankees and grew to become a longtime Pittsburgh Pirates fan. As a man of faith, Jack was a member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Youngwood, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his father, on Feb. 28, 2000; and his mother, on Dec. 26, 2022; his loving wife, Sara Jane Crosby DeMonte, on Jan. 28, 2023, whom he married on Jan. 14, 1967; and his infant sister, Cynthia DeMonte.
