James A. 'Jay' Whigham Sr., 64, of Derry, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at AHN Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Hills. Born Jan. 8, 1960, in Wilkinsburg, he was a son of Janet L. (Holderbaum) Whigham of Sarver, and the late Kenneth E. Whigham Sr. Jay was employed at Taylor Trucking. He was a member of the F & J Bow and Gun Club, and the Kingston Veterans & Sportsmen's Club. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and loved old muscle cars. Jay had a good sense of humor, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandson. In addition to his mother, Jay is survived by one son, James A. Whigham Jr.; and fiance Shelby Arnold, of Latrobe; three brothers, Kenneth E. Whigham Jr., and his wife Colleen, of Wilkinsburg, William J. Whigham of Sarver, and Daniel E. Whigham, and his wife Karen, of Pittsburgh; one grandson, Jayden; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his best friend, Kenny Marton. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at AHN Jefferson Hospital for their excellent care. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at a time to be announced Saturday, Aug. 31, in the chapel of Calvary Cemetery, 718 Highland Ave., Pittsburgh, where interment will follow.
