Light-rail rehab set to begin Friday

An online meeting Tuesday will outline Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s $150 million rehabilitation work on the agency’s light-rail network. The meeting starts at 4 p.m.

The projects are expected to begin Friday, after the Pirates’ home opener at PNC Park on the North Shore. The construction will lead to rolling closures of parts of the rail lines and require significant detours.

The light-rail system, known as “the T,” will be closed between Steel Plaza and Gateway stations for about seven weeks starting in April. Closures and detours will continue as work progresses through 2028.
