The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired 25-year-old forward Cody Glass, a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and a 2026 sixth-round selection from the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, the club announced.
In exchange, the Penguins traded 23-year-old center Jordan Frasca, who has spent the majority of the past two seasons with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.
Glass carries a salary cap hit of $2.5 million and is in the final year of a two-year deal signed with the Predators in the summer of 2022.
After signing forwards Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, defenseman Brady Skjei and goalie Scott Wedgewood to contracts totaling $22 million annually in free agency in July, the Predators were in need of salary cap relief the Penguins could provide.
According to puckpedia.com, after acquiring Glass, the Penguins have $1.05 million in cap space with 23 players on the roster.
Glass offers an additional injection of youth into the Penguins’ lineup, especially among the bottom-six forwards, joining fellow recently acquired players Blake Lizotte (26) and Anthony Beauvillier (27) plus returners Drew O’Connor (26), Valtteri Puustinen (25), Emil Bemstrom (25) and Jesse Puljujarvi (26).
A 6-foot-3, 206-pound player who can deploy at center and the wing, Glass spent the past three seasons with the Predators.
Following a breakout campaign in 2022-23, when he appeared in 71 games, scoring 14 goals with 21 assists – all career-highs – Glass navigated through a frustrating season last year, with injuries limiting him to 41 games played.
Battling through several stints on injured reserve, Glass contributed six goals and seven assists, averaging 13 minutes, 26 seconds of nightly ice time.

In 2017, he was the inaugural draft selection of the Vegas Golden Knights, who picked the Winnipeg, Manitoba, native sixth overall.
Glass went on to spend parts of three years with Vegas, appearing in 74 games from 2019-22.
Over the course of his five-year NHL career, he’s scored 29 goals with 42 assists in 187 games.
He also could be an option on the power play, having skated just over 96 minutes on the man-advantage last year with the Predators, per Natural Stat Trick.
