H The Municipality of PENN A HOME RULE COMMUNITY HILLS Mayor's Message By Mayor Pauline Calabrese When I was running for office, Tony DeLuca would sometimes accompany me to political events to introduce me. As everyone knows, Tony had a flamboyant style. Finally, one day I said, "Tony, don't you know you're not supposed to outshine the candidate?" He flashed his big smile, and gave me a pat on the back, as if to say, "I can't help it." On behalf of the entire Municipality of Penn Hills, council and myself, I am extending heartfelt condolences to the DeLuca Family on the passing of the Honorable State Representative Tony DeLuca. Representative DeLuca was deeply passionate about his constituents in Penn Hills, Blawnox, Plum, and Verona. He was a senior member of the House of Representatives, who was the embodiment of a Statesman and a gentleman. He brought millions of dollars in grants to these eastern suburbs but even more, he was a true friend and mentor. Each one of us serving on council had unfettered access to him for guidance and an occasional scolding. He truly loved his work and the residents had the utmost confidence in him, electing him year after year. If the streets of heaven are paved in gold, I am sure he is in the process of getting a grant to line them with diamonds. Rest in Peace, Dear Friend.
