As the Penn Hills Municipality begins our project to beautify Rodi Road, we are not stumped. We have a plan, which began about three years ago as we walked along Rodi Road, with volunteer members of the community on a cold winter moming. We in Penn Hills are so fortunate to have our own Shade Tree Commission. The volunteers of the Penn Hills Shade Tree Commission and TreeVitalize are partnering to bring the many benefits of trees to the project, which involves planting 13 trees on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. We will be planting along the right-of-way in front of several Rodi Road properties. Parking is available in the Giant Eagle parking spaces next to Rodi Road and in the Long John Silver's lot. The Commission will bring coffee and doughnuts for volunteers - and we are looking for about two dozen of them. Now they are setting their sights on the busy, winding and cluttered Rodi Road, which leads into the heart of the commercial district of Penn Hills.
