Virginia Walsh, 90, of North Huntington, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 1, 1934, to Frank Di Brango and Maria Di Brango (Foglia) in Pittsburgh and grew up in the neighborhood of Larimer, where she met her late husband John Jack' Walsh. They had four children, John Walsh, Jerry Walsh, Ginger Schmidt (Walsh), and Frank Walsh. Virginia grew to be an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, having watched many seasons with her late beloved son-in-law, Mike Schmidt, and family. But watching her grandchildren grow on the soccer and baseball field, volleyball court, and theatrical stage gave her the greatest joy. She touched many by the beautiful blankets she knitted, a cherished hobby that warmed both the body and the soul. Virginia is survived by her two sons and daughter, Jerry, Ginger, and Frank (Teresa Bucco); and six grandchildren, Kelly Walsh, Mike Schmidt (Lisa Schmidt), Steve Schmidt (Miranda Schmidt), Andrew Walsh, Jack Walsh, and Coleman Walsh; and three great-grandchildren, Landon, Tenley, and Brooks. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Walsh; and son-in-law, Mike Schmidt. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, with Father Mike officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EWTN Global Catholic Network. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
