Elizabeth J. (Alexander) Beatty, 89, of Greensburg, formerly of Dunbar, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, in Forbes Regional Health Center. She was born June 16, 1935, in Dunbar, a daughter of the late Paul and Eleanor McGarrity Alexander. Elizabeth was born, raised, and lived most of her life in Dunbar and had been a lifetime member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and cookouts. Elizabeth had a strong will and persevered during difficult times. She made sure her husband, Joe, a disabled Korean War veteran, was well taken care of after suffering a stroke at a young age and another later in his life. Elizabeth and Joe had their first date square dancing, a beloved pastime they enjoyed throughout their lives. She learned how to drive at the age of sixty-eight after the death of her husband. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Beatty, in 2003; and three sisters, Jeanie Watson, Eleanor Pyne, and Patricia Alexander. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Boyer (Chuck) of Greensburg; her son, David Beatty (Cheryl) of Queen Creek, AZ; two grandsons, that she absolutely cherished and adored, Devin Boyer (Luke) of Washington, DC, and Andrew Boyer of Pittsburgh; brother, Paul Alexander of Greencastle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Elizabeth, from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 409 W. Prayers of transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m., in the Our Lady of Grace Church, Greensburg. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.
