Louis U. Long, 79, of Derry, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, in the William Penn Care Center. He was born June 14, 1945, in Johnstown, a son of the late Norbert P. and Gertrude (Martin) Long. Lou was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, and camping in Erie. Lou is survived by his daughters, Carol L. Paskovitch (Drew) of Latrobe and Roberta J. Long-LaVigne (Frank) of Mount Airy, Maryland; a stepson, Scott Procko of Ruffsdale; two sisters, Sr. Mary Norbert of Sisters of Charity, Greensburg, and Betty Wechtenhiser of Latrobe; eight grandchildren, Zack, Dani, Jacob, Benjamin, Elijah, Robert, Adrian, and Michael; and many nieces and nephews. Lou was preceded in death by wives, Carol Lee and Emma Jean; brother, Robert; and brother-in-law, Vernon. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Whitney, with Father James Podlesny. Interment will be private.
