John. C. Ewing, Jr., 83, of Greensburg, died Friday, April 26, 2024, in Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born April 8, 1941 in Bakerstown (Pittsburgh), the son of the late John C. Ewing, Sr. and Elizabeth M. (Patterson) Ewing. He was a US Air Force veteran and, prior to retirement, served 25 years as a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper, Troop A, Greensburg. He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and had been a member of Maplewood Presbyterian Church. John was also prior owner of Martin's Hydraulics and was a franchise owner for Alum-line (Cresco, Iowa). He participated with the PSP motorcycles rodeo and was a member of the PSP softball team. John was a member of F.O.P. Frank J. Kelly Lodge #62, American Association of State Troopers, PA State Trooper Association and South Greensburg American Legion Post #981. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved country music. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay (Martin) Ewing, two daughters, Christina Savage and Robin Baer (Shawn), and two granddaughters, Brianna Savage and Kyla Baer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2024 at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024 with The Rev. Jenn Frayer-Griggs officiating.
