Police have arrested a McKees Rocks teen who they say fatally shot a Stowe man on Thanksgiving eve.

Cy-Miar Amari Woods, 16, was charged as an adult Thursday in the Nov. 22 death of Michael Dean.

Dean, 26, was killed at his house in the 800 block of Benwood Avenue, according to a criminal complaint in the case.

Woods is the second person arrested in the case. Arrmon Hagans, a 43-year-old ex-con from Wilkinsburg, was arrested in December in connection with the shooting.

Allegheny County Police arrested Woods this week on multiple charges, including criminal homicide, attempted burglary and firearms offenses.

Police said that Hagans, who drove a jitney, told them that he was bar-hopping on Nov. 22 in a gray Dodge Charger before picking up Woods and another young man near Sto-Rox High School for a ride, the complaint said.

Hagans told police he wanted to buy marijuana so he drove to the home of an alleged drug dealer in Stowe, according to the complaint.

Police did not identify the dealer, but the group showed up at the house on Benwood.

Dean opened the front door and quickly slammed it when he saw one of the young men carrying a gun, according to the complaint.

Woods fired a single round into the front door, the complaint said.

Dean was struck in the head and killed.

Following his arrest, Hagans told police that Woods and the second young man, who was not publicly identified, were helping him sell marijuana, according to the complaint against Woods.

Police said that Hagans identified Woods from a photo lineup.

Woods denied any involvement in the homicide, according to the complaint against him.

He also denied knowing or being associated with Hagans.

Woods told police that he was babysitting at his McKees Rocks apartment at the time of the shooting.

Video from a Stowe tavern and images captured by a borough camera show Hagans driving the gray Dodge Charger toward Dean’s house Nov. 22, the complaint said.

Detectives also found video from Dean’s house showing the car driving away, the complaint said. Police used license-plate readers to track the vehicle and search it.

Hagans told police he took the gun that killed Dean and dropped the young men near the high school, the complaint said.

In the meantime, Dean’s parents went to their son’s house because he stopped answering phone calls about picking up items for Thanksgiving dinner, the complaint said. They found him dead on the floor, near the front door.

Hagans was arrested Nov. 30, when North Fayette police responded to an Extended Stay America hotel near Pittsburgh International Airport for reports of an unresponsive man, the complaint said.

Police went to a hotel room with the manager and found Hagans passed out. Police woke him.

Inside the room officers found a loaded Hi-Point C9 9mm handgun in the room, suspected cocaine and marijuana and a small digital scale.

Ballistics testing linked the gun to the bullet that killed Dean, according to the complaint.

Hagans was charged with 10 offenses including criminal homicide, attempted burglary and multiple firearms offenses. He was taken to jail and is scheduled for trial on July 8.

Police said that Hagans is serving federal probation and cannot own a gun.

In 2019, Hagans pleaded guilty in federal court to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and other drugs, court records show.

U.S. District Court Judge Nora Barry Fischer sentenced him that November to 18 months in federal prison followed by six years of probation.

Hagans was released from federal prison on Dec. 23, 2022, Federal Bureau of Prisons records show.
