St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Sunday School, for children of kindergarten age and up, is on hiatus for the summer, as is the monthly Children’s Service, which invites young members to take part by reading and serving during the liturgy.
Children’s bulletins from “Illustrated Ministry” will be available in the back of the sanctuary each Sunday this summer. They contain quiet activities for children that are drawn from the Sunday readings and can be used in church or at home.
The parish is seeking more volunteers to water, weed and harvest vegetables in the church’s Garden of Hope. The produce is donated to the North Hills Food Bank.
The Justice Ministry is leading a warm-weather clothing drive to benefit the Neighborhood Resilience Project in the Hill District. Parishioners are invited to donate gently used shirts, shorts and pants for men, women and children. Clothing may be left in the church lobby.
The Book Club will meet July 6 at 1 p.m. to discuss “There Are Rivers in the Sky” by Elif Shafak. The novel interweaves the stories of three characters across time and explores themes of memory, loss and resilience.
Parishioners are collecting napkins, paper towels, plastic wrap, foil, food storage bags and products such as cleanser and window cleaners for the North Hills Food Bank. Donations may be left in the church lobby.
Sticks & Strings, the church group that likes to knit, crochet or embroider, meets on the third Tuesday and first Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the library.

The Kids’ Community Closet is a “free-cycle” community space to share kids’ clothes (birth through size 14/16). All clothing is free and in good, very gently used condition — some items still have tags on. There are no applications, income requirements, or donations necessary.
The Kids’ Community Closet is located at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and noon to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday.
