If ever there was such a category, Quaker Valley tennis coach Christi Hays undoubtedly would be in the running for “most quotable” consideration.
Hays mentors both the boys and girls teams at QV and carries a big racket in WPIAL tennis.
“I remind the boys all the time to enjoy the process,” Hays said. “Being a high school student-athlete is like walking a tightrope — balancing social, academic, extracurricular activities and family responsibilities.
“As coaches, we try to help them to walk that line so that we can navigate a successful season. A boys tennis season is like a 440 in track. It’s not really a sprint or a distance event, but it is vigorous with all the moving parts.”
QV lacrosse honors
Seven members of the Quaker Valley girls lacrosse program earned all-section recognition in 2026.
First-team selections were seniors Lucy Roig (MF), Alexa Westwood (ATT/MF), Meredith Fallgren (D) and sophomore Kate Miller (ATT/MF).
Westwood also received All-American status in Western Pennsylvania by USA Lacrosse.
Roig was a four-year starter and with 287 career goals. She also finished with 40 assists, 307 total points, 393 draw controls, 148 ground balls and 108 caused turnovers.
The Quakers ended the regular season with a 14-2 record, advanced to the WPIAL Class 2A championship game as well as the PIAA playoffs and finished 17-4 overall.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the team this year,” Roig said, “and I am so sad to leave. But I know that their future is bright.
“My favorite memory was playing in the second-round state playoff game this year and scoring one last time while playing on a torn ACL and meniscus. Being able to celebrate that with my best friends is something I’ll never forget.”
Quaker Valley freshman MF Grace Keisel and junior (multi-positional) Anabel Miko achieved second-team all-section status and sophomore D Molly Millet was an honorable mention selection.
Roig, Miller and Fallgren were chosen to the WPIAL Class 2A all-tournament team.
Roig and Fallgren also were recognized as Academic All-Americans.
More lacrosse honors
Quaker Valley seniors Jacob Keisel (ATT) and Jace Vasbinder (MF) led the boys lacrosse team in scoring with 31 and 29 points, respectively.
Keisel netted 17 goals and 14 assists while Vasbinder clicked for 23 goals and 6 assists.
For their season-long efforts, both received second-team all-section accolades.
“It was the first time anyone (at QV) got second team or higher since 2022,” coach Ryan Riesmeyer said.
QV started out 7-1 this season and finished 9-4 overall, landing the No. 10 seed for the WPIAL Class 2A playoffs. The Quakers finished 6-4 in section play.
“I truly believe this group has laid a solid foundation for where Quaker Valley lacrosse is headed moving forward,” Riesmeyer said, “and there are exciting things coming for this program.
“What this group has accomplished will have a lasting impact on the future generations that come through this program.”
Other leading offensive players at QV in 2026 included junior and senior attackers Nate Miler and Max Modrovich, senior midfielder Hunter Kronk, sophomore attacker Roman Gabriele and senior defenseman Ben McHenry.
